The Sauk Village Comprehensive Plan: Reflect + Connect + Progress was presented to the Sauk Village Committee of the Whole on Monday, Tuesday, March 19, 2019. The presentation included an overview of the plan, how to use the plan, and a review of key projects and recommendations. The Implementation Plan was also highlighted in the Committtee. The Committee of the Whole referred an agenda item to the Village Board which will meet on Tuesday, March 26th at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Center, 21801 Torrence Avenue, Sauk Village to consider adopting the Plan.
The Committee of the Whole acted upon the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Appeals/Plan Commission which met on March 4th. The ZBA/Plan Commission voted 6-0 to recommend passage of the Sauk Village Comprehensive Plan. The motion included amendments that propose a new vision for a conservation development, open space and recreation/lifelong learning center along Torrence Avenue across from the Municipal Center as well as further exhibits and technical support for stormwater management techniques to reduce the risk of flooding in the community.
Special thanks to the Sauk Village residents, local officials and staff as well as the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) who have supported the planning process over the past ten months. With a new plan in hand, the Village has the tools, people and commitment to attract new private investment and continue to improve opportunities for all residents, businesses and organizations in the Village.

On to the Village Board
On Monday, March 4, 2019 the Zoning Board of Appeals/Plan Commission recommended passage of the Sauk Village Comprehensive Plan: Reflect + Connect + Progress by a vote of 6-0. The motion included amendments that propose a new vision for a conservation development, open space and recreation/lifelong learning center along Torrence Avenue across from the Municipal Center as well as further exhibits and technical support for stormwater management techniques to reduce the risk of flooding in the community.
The next step is the Committee of the Whole meeting on March 19 at 7:00 pm and then the Village Board Meeting on April 9 at 7:00 pm. Both meetings will be held at the Sauk Village Municipal Center, 21701 Torrence Avenue.

Public Hearing for Comprehensive Plan
The Zoning Board of Appeals/Planning Commission of the Village of Sauk Village will consider the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 7:00 P.M at the Village Board Chamber at Village Hall, 21801 Torrence Avenue, Sauk Village, Illinois 60411. The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments regarding the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is a guide for the physical development of the Village and its associated planning area for the next 20 years and beyond. Advisory Committee Unanimously Recommends Comprehensive Plan
On February 11, 2019 the Sauk Village Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee reviewed the Draft Plan, including recommendations for land use, economic development, housing, transportation, open space and community facilities. Mayor Derrick Burgess opened the meeting commending the Advisory Committee and everyone who had participated in the plan. He stated that “the plan is a road map – it gives us direction and is the first major update since 1999.” The Consultant Team presented key findings, goals and representative projects – from ways to attract housing investment and new industry to visions for the seven local parks owned by the Village. Charles Pondexter, a member of the Committee called it “an excellent plan that provides direction.” The plan includes a Future Land Use Map, a Transportation Strategy, Open Space Strategy and specific stormwater improvements programs and projects. In an unanimous vote, the Committee recommended adoption to the Zoning Board of Appeals / Plan Commission which will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 4th at 7:00 P.M. at the Sauk Village Municipal Center, 21701 Torrence Avenue, Sauk Village, Illinois.
